| Germany 2 : 0 Sweden
| Lukas Podolski scored twice within the first 12 minutes as World Cup hosts Germany safely secured their passage into the quarter-finals courtesy of a 2-0 victory over 10-men Sweden. It was a fourth straight World Cup win for Germany who are now just two games away from matching manager Jurgen Klinsmann's target of reaching the final in Berlin on July 9. Germany will face Argentina in the quarters, on June, 30. |

| Switzerland 2:0 Rep.Koreea
Goals from Philippe Senderos and Alexandr Frei clinched a 2-0 win for Switzerland over Korea Republic in Hanover and secured top spot for Kobi Kuhn’s side in Group G, as the Asians bowed out of the World Cup following France's victory over Togo. The game ended in controversial fashion when Alexander Frei scored Switzerland's second goal, 13 minutes from time, to seal the victory. Referee Horacio Elizondo waved for play to continue after Xavier Margairaz's ball was deflected into Frei's path by a Korean defender while the lineman flagged for offside. Kuhn’s side finish on the top position of Group G with seven points, followed by France with five points, Korea Republic with four points, and Togo, who go home without a point. Switzerland will face Ukraine in the second round of the World Cup on June, 26th. |

| France goes through
| A similar scenario haunted France again as the spectre of another first-round exit loomed, as Togo hold 98 World Cup winners in flutter for a half.France had to win, ideally by two goals, to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Vieira scored the opener after 55 minutes and set up the second for Thierry Henry six minutes later for a scoreline that was enough to see Les Bleus go through. With Switzerland winning 2-0 in the other Group G game even a late goal from Togo would not prevent France progressing to the last 16, where they will face Spain on June, 27th. |

| Sweden 2 : 2 England
| England and Sweden drew 2-2 in Cologne on Tuesday, a result that sends both teams through to the Round of 16 from Group B. England went in front in the 34th minute after a spectacular strike from Joe Cole. Marcus Allback equalised with a header in the 52nd minute but substitute Steven Gerrard restored England's advantage after Joe Cole's 85th-minute cross. Not for long, as Henrik Larsson levelled the score line again in the injury time. England have still not defeated Sweden since 1968 but, as group winners, they will be happier to be facing Ecuador and not Germany in the Round of 16. |

| Germany 3 : 0 Ecuador
Germany have easily win the last Group A game against Ecuador after Miroslav Klose scored twice and Lukas Podolski increased the lead. The World Cup hosts conquered the top position in their group and will play against the second position in Group B, England or Sweden, or even Trinidad Tobago, but it's hard to believe. Germany: Lehmann, Friedrich, Mertesacker, Huth, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Frings (Borowski 66), Ballack, Schneider (Asamoah 73), Klose (Neuville 66), Podolski. Ecuador: Mora, De la Cruz, Espinoza, Ambrossi, Guagua, Valencia (Lara 63), Edwin Tenorio, Ayovi (Urrutia 68), Mendez, Borja (Benitez 46), Kaviedes. |

| Ukraine 4 : 0 Saudi Arabia
| After losing 4-0 to Spain in their opening Group H game Oleg Blokhin's team managed to put Ukraine back on track with a wonderful victory against Saudi Arabia. The goals were scored by Rusol 4, Rebrov 36, Shevchenko 46 and Kalinichenko 84. Ukraine will have to face Tunisia in their final Group H game on Friday and are now favourites to qualify for the last 16. |

| Switzerland 2 : 0 Togo
Alexander Frei(16) and Tranquillo Barnetta(88) guided Switzerland to a 2-0 Group G victory over Togo in Dortmund. It was a deserved victory for Switzerland, who are now on top of their group, followed by South Korea, France and Togo. The West Africans are out of the World Cup after their second defeat in the row, but still have to face France in the last group game. Switzerland: Zuberbuhler, Muller, Philipp Degen, Senderos, Magnin, Barnetta, Vogel, Wicky, Cabanas(Streller 77), Frei(Lustrinelli 87), Gygax(H Yakin 46). Togo: Agassa, Nibombe, Tchangai, Toure, Agboh(Salifou 25), Dossevi(Senaya 68), Cherif-Toure(Malm 85), Romao, Forson, Adebayor, Mohamed. |

| Argentina-pure magic
| Argentina coach Jose Pekerman was delighted with his side's 6-0 win over Serbia & Montenegro. "This is the worst result in the history of Yugoslavian football," said the coach Ilija Petkovic, " It's not the players' fault, it's my fault." Pekerman said: "I cannot remember when we last played so well." |

| Rooney Reloaded
| Sven-Goran Eriksson revealed his delight at seeing Wayne Rooney return to action - and predicted he will get "better and better". The Manchester United striker, who had been out of action since fracturing a metatarsal almost seven weeks ago, was thrown into the game by Sven-Goran Eriksson in the 58th minute into England's game against Trinidad and Tobago. "I'm very happy that he is match fit - of course not 100 percent fit, he can't be, but that half an hour he had out there will help him," he said. Eriksson insisted he could use him from the start in the next match against Sweden. |

| Joao Ricardo-Player of the day
| The Black Antelopes collected their first ever World Cup point with a courageous display. Ten-man Angola succeeded a memorable World Cup result, when they held Mexico to a 0-0 draw. However, the mexicans dominate almost the entire game but clubless goalkeeper Joao Ricardo held the ball away from the net with some dramatic saves. The african goalkeeper made the save of the night to deny Marquez shoot in the dying seconds of the game. |
