| Holland 1 - 0 Serbia
Arjen Robben opened the scoring in the 18th minute helping Holland to lead at the break, after a good first half. Both Holland and Serbia & Montenegro had chances to score, but it was just 1-0 at the half time. In the second half, Holland gave no chances to the opposition, despite their desperate efforts. | Argentina - Cote D'ivoire 2-1
| After a good game, Argentina succeded their first victory by beating Ivory Coast 2-1 in an thrilling match. Hernan Crespo and Javier Saviola managed to score before the break, but the Africans refused to give up and Didier Drogba scored a late goal in the 82nd minute. After this match, Argentina seems favorite to win the group, but the Elephants showed that they have enough quality to bounce back and reach the last 16 before the crucial confruntations with Holland and Serbia. |

| England 1-0 Paraguay
| England proved to be one of the pre-tournament favourites as they beat Paraguay in the first match in Group B, thanks to an own goal from Carlos Gamarra in the fourth minute. The game was dominated by England, but Paraguay was very ambitious and had a few good chances to score. |

| Bad luck for Lehmann
The Germany goalkeeper, Jens Lehmann, picked up an ankle injury after the 4-2 victory against Costa Rica,in the opening game. With the ankle twisted and unavailable for the moment, Lehmann will be replaced by Oliver Kahn , the 2002 World Cup best player. | Lyon's striker, Sidney Govou, was called for the national team of France after Cisse fractured his right tibia during the international friendly against China. Raymond Domenech will use Govou as a substitute in the Tuesday match against Switzerland. |

| Rooney is back in training
| The Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney recovery programme is progressing. He was able to play with the ball and run on Thursday's training session and Sven-Göran Eriksson is optimistic about the 20-year-old player chances to play at World Cup. Rooney will undergo a final scan on 7 June on his injured foot. |

| Messi is back in the action!
| Argentina's forward Lionel Messi is feelling well after his injury. During the three months on the bench, Messi recovered quite well and even if he didn't scored he played well, passing and shoting in the last Argentina's match, 2-0 against Angola in Salerno in Italy on Tuesday, and has felt no reaction to the injury. The 18-year old Barcelona's playmaker had a thigh injury sustained in a Champions League game in March, against Chelsea. |

| Zambrotta out for two weeks
Gianluca Zambrotta will miss Italy's first match at the World Cup, against Ghana on June 12. He had suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh during training last weekend and will need at least two weeks to recover.
Zambrotta could recover in time to face USA on June 17, but doctors also spoted out a ligament damage, so Zambrotta will need to have a scan. Italy is facing other problems too. On Tuesday Roma's midfielder Simone Perrotta was unable to finish the training, after he knocked his left knee. |

| Del Horno may miss
Spain national team doctor, Dr. Genaro Borras, has said that defender Asier Del Horno may miss the entire World Cup tournament due to a recent ankle injury.
The initial tests and prognosis do not look good, and it is expected he will be left home. |
